Etude pilote prospective sur le portage du méningocoque chez les enfants de 5-15 ans en milieu scolaire, Bamako/Mali de juin à décembre 2009

Abstract

The preliminary descriptive results from our cross-sectional sample of 250 children in Bamako, Mali indicate that the incidence of Neisseria meningitidis carriage with serogroup A only, serogroup W135 only, or both is 15.6 p.100, which is higher than expected. The majority of carriers were positive for both serogroup A and serogroup W135 ; the incidence of Co-infection with these two serogroups was 11.6 p.100 . Further analyses are needed to evaluate the concordance between the U and T swabbing methods and to evaluate potential risk factors for carriage in this setting
